A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 56-5-1960, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE PROHIBITION AGAINST FOLLOWING CLOSER THAN FIVE HUNDRED FEET A FIRE APPARATUS VEHICLE RESPONDING TO A FIRE ALARM, SO AS TO PROHIBIT THE FOLLOWING CLOSER THAN FIVE HUNDRED FEET A FIRE APPARATUS VEHICLE RESPONDING TO ANY EMERGENCY.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 56-5-1960 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 56-5-1960. The driver of any vehicle other than one on official business shall not follow any fire apparatus traveling in response to a fire alarm an emergency closer than five hundred feet or stop such vehicle within five hundred feet of any fire apparatus stopped in answer to a fire alarm an emergency."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
