A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND BRIAN NAPPIER OF MIDLAND VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL FOR HIS OUTSTANDING ACHIEVEMENTS, ACADEMICALLY AND ON THE PLAYING FIELDS, IN FOOTBALL, TRACK, AND BASEBALL, AND FOR HIS EQUALLY OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO HIS SCHOOL, HIS COMMUNITY, AND HIS CHURCH, AND TO CONGRATULATE HIM ON THE OCCASION OF HIS BEING SELECTED AS THE RECIPIENT OF THE MIDLAND VALLEY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE'S 1998 YOUTH OF THE YEAR AWARD.

Whereas, Brian Nappier, the son of Sandra and Wayne Nappier and a student at Midland Valley High School, was recently named and honored by the Midland Valley Chamber of Commerce as the Chamber's 1998 Youth of the Year; and

Whereas, as a senior at Midland Valley High School, Brian Nappier serves as student body president, is president of the Key Club, and also serves as treasurer of the Beta Club; and

Whereas, Brian Nappier serves as a DARE student role model, is a member of the Spanish Club, the prom committee, the ring committee, Block MV, and Students Against Drunk Driving; and

Whereas, Brian Nappier attended South Carolina Boys State at Wofford College where he was elected Senator; was named a National Exchange Student of the Month, a Midland Valley Lions Club Student of the Quarter; and

Whereas, academically, Brian Nappier is in a college preparatory program of study and is in the top fifteen percent of this class, ranking 35th out of a class of 237; and

Whereas, Brian Nappier is an outstanding athlete as well as a scholar, having been named Defensive Player of the Year in football in 1997, and to the Region AAA football team, and he was also named a member of the 1997 Region 4-AAA Track Championship Team, and a member of the 1997 AAA State Baseball Championship Team, lettering in baseball, football, and track at Midland Valley High School in 1997, and was selected the Augusta Area Sports Council's Student Athlete of the Quarter; and

Whereas, Brian Nappier of Midland Valley High School is a student and role model that excels in and out of the classroom and is a special person with a gift to serve others in school, his community, and church, while never missing a day of school. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate commend Brian Nappier of Midland Valley High School for his outstanding achievements, academically and on the playing fields, in football, track, and baseball, and for his equally outstanding service to his school, his community, and his church, and congratulate him on the occasion of his being selected as the recipient of the Midland Valley Chamber of Commerce's 1998 Youth of the Year Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Brian Nappier of Midland Valley High School.
