A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE FORREST SHERWOOD MCKENZIE FOR A DISTINGUISHED CAREER AT PYA/MONARCH, INC. ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Forrest Sherwood McKenzie is retiring after a distinguished career at PYA/Monarch, Inc., one of the largest food distributors in the southeast; and

Whereas, Mr. McKenzie was born in Dillon, South Carolina in 1936 and married Doris Gray in 1958. He and his wife are blessed with three children and two grandchildren; and

Whereas, he joined PYA/Monarch, Inc. in the early 1960's and worked his way up through the company ranks as Sales Manager, General Manager, and Vice President, becoming President of the Company in 1990; and

Whereas, Mr. McKenzie not only used his talents and business acumen to take PYA/Monarch, Inc. forward in growth and prosperity but he also has widely shared his talents throughout the volunteer community; and

Whereas, he has served on the Board of Directors for Harvest Hope Food Bank, Lexington Chamber of Commerce, the Cultural Council of Richland and Lexington Counties, the Lexington Medical Foundation, and the Wachovia Lexington Advisory Board; and

Whereas, Mr. McKenzie has also been a staunch supporter of the arts and the Boy Scouts of America and an active member of the Columbia Rotary Club; and

Whereas, the General Assembly is pleased to recognize the successful career and many contributions of Mr. McKenzie to the public and private sectors of the midlands and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Forrest Sherwood McKenzie for his distinguished career at PYA/Monarch, Inc. on the occasion of his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Forrest Sherwood McKenzie.
