A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 52-7-90, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE REQUIREMENT THAT A PARTICIPANT IN A BOXING MATCH POSSESS A PHYSICIAN'S CERTIFICATE STATING GOOD PHYSICAL CONDITION, SO AS TO ALSO REQUIRE THE PHYSICIAN'S CERTIFICATE TO STATE THAT THE PARTICIPANT IS FREE OF THE HUMAN IMMUNODEFICIENCY VIRUS (HIV) AND THE ACQUIRED IMMUNODEFICIENCY SYNDROME (AIDS).

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 52-7-90 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 52-7-90. (A) Each A participant must have a physician's certificate acceptable to the commission issued prior to before the event stating that the participant is in good physical condition and is free of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) and the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS).

(B) No A boxing event may not be held unless a licensed physician is at ringside."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
