A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 40-11-10, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DEFINITION OF "GENERAL CONTRACTOR", SO AS TO INCREASE THE AMOUNT OF THE COST OF AN UNDERTAKING BEFORE A PERSON IS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN A GENERAL CONTRACTOR'S LICENSE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 40-11-10(1) of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"(1) A 'general contractor' shall be is one who for a fixed price, commission, fee, or wage undertakes or offers to undertake the construction or superintending of construction of any building, highway, sewer, grading, improvement, reimprovement, structure, or part thereof, when the cost of the undertaking is thirty one hundred fifty thousand dollars or more. Anyone who engages or offers to engage in such undertaking in this State shall be deemed to have engaged in the business of general contracting in this State."

SECTION . This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
