CONGRATULATING SUMTER HIGH SCHOOL ON WINNING THE CLASS AAAA BOYS CROSS COUNTRY STATE CHAMPIONSHIP FOR 1996.
Whereas, the Sumter High School boys cross country team finished undefeated in the Fall 1996 regular season, defeating teams from South Carolina and North Carolina; and
Whereas, Sumter High won the Gamecock Invitational and The Citadel Invitational, secured its third consecutive Region IV, Class AAAA title, and capped the season by winning the Class AAAA state crown on November 9, 1996; and
Whereas, the Gamecocks of Sumter High, under the direction of Head Coach Al Dunn, brought honor to themselves, their school, the City of Sumter, and Sumter County; and
Whereas, the team members' determination, talent, hard work, and unity paid off in a big way in 1996 and we are pleased to have this opportunity to recognize these outstanding student-athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Sumter High School on winning the Class AAAA boys cross country state championship for 1996.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Gamecock boys cross country team, in care of Head Coach Al Dunn .
