A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF ERNEST THOMAS MCCUTCHEON, SR., OF GREENWOOD AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, Ernest Thomas McCutcheon, Sr., of Greenwood died January 20, 1997, at the age of sixty-six; and

Whereas, Mr. McCutcheon was born in Newberry County, was the owner of McCutcheon's Cheeseburger House and formerly employed by Greenwood Mills, and was a charter member, deacon, and usher of Woodfields Baptist Church, where he was also a member of the Men's III Sunday School Class; and

Whereas, he is survived by his wife, Jorene Vickers McCutcheon; two daughters, Mrs. Curtis (Paula) Clark and Mrs. Tony (Kathy Jo) Green, operator of the Burger Inn on South Main in Greenwood; two sons, Ernest T. "Tommy" McCutcheon, Jr., operator of the Civic Center Cafe, and Charles Hilton McCutcheon, operator of McCutcheon's Cheeseburger House; two sisters, Dolores Aiton and Patricia Whiddon; a brother, Nolan McCutcheon; eight grandchildren; a brother-in-law, John Vickers, operator of the Cheeseburger House in Ninety Six; and a son-in-law, Tony Green, operator of Hannah's Burgers and Dogs; and

Whereas, Ernest Thomas McCutcheon, Sr., was a distinguished businessman and citizen of Greenwood County; he contributed greatly to his community; he was highly respected and admired by everyone who knew him; and his presence will be missed very much.

Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, expresses sorrow at the death of Ernest Thomas McCutcheon, Sr., of Greenwood and extends sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. McCutcheon's family.
