A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO DISAPPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO PARAPROFESSIONAL PERSONNEL POSITIONS (REPEAL), DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1952, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to Paraprofessional Personnel Positions (Repeal), designated as Regulation Document Number 1952, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are disapproved.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.

SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.

This regulation requires a teacher aide for certain types of teachers. We propose that this regulation be repealed in order to consolidate and condense a number of State Board of Education regulations which address this issue. Regulations related to nonprofessional/paraprofessional personnel positions, qualifications and duties are merged into one Regulation R43-209, Nonprofessional/Paraprofessional Personnel Positions, Qualifications and Duties.
