TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO ADJUSTMENT IN INSTRUCTIONAL TIME FOR BASIC SKILLS (REPEAL), DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 1957, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to Adjustment in Instructional Time for Basic Skills (Repeal), designated as Regulation Document Number 1957, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.
This regulation states that required time may be adjusted for remedial, handicapped, or gifted students and for those who score below the statewide minimum standards on BSAP tests. The State Board of Education proposes repeal of this regulation because it became obsolete with the enactment of the Early Childhood and Academic Assistance Act of 1993. This regulation has been merged into R43-232, Basic Program for Grades 9-12.
