A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF MR. JAMES ALSTON, JR., OF SUMTER COUNTY, AND EXTENDING SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, Mr. James Alston, Jr., was born in Sumter County on September 13, 1924, and departed this life on February 20, 1997; and

Whereas, Mr. Alston was the son of the late Ms. Doretha Davis and Mr. James Alston, Sr.; he attended the public schools in Sumter County and became a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church in Rembert where he was a member of the senior choir; and he was employed by Santee Prints Company in Sumter for twenty-three years until his retirement; and

Whereas, he was a respected, admired, and beloved member of the community, and his presence will be missed greatly; and

Whereas, we want his family and many friends to know that they are in our thoughts and have our deepest sympathy. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of Mr. James Alston, Jr., of Sumter County, and extend sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Alston's family.
