TO AMEND SECTION 50-13-1187, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE PROTECTION OF NONGAME FISH AND BAIT WHICH MAY BE USED WITH TROTLINES, SET HOOKS, AND JUGS, SO AS TO FURTHER PROVIDE FOR THE RIVERS WHERE LIVE NONGAME FISH MAY BE USED WITH CERTAIN SET HOOKS AND TO CHANGE THE SIZE OF THE SINGLE-BARBED SET HOOKS WITH WHICH LIVE NONGAME FISH MAY BE USED ON THESE RIVERS.
Amend Title To Conform
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Section 50-13-1187(B) of the 1976 Code, as added by Act 24 of 1995, is amended to read:
"(B) Notwithstanding this section, on the Edisto, Black, Sampit, Big Pee Dee, Little Pee Dee, Lumber, and Waccamaw Rivers River live nongame fish may be used with 9/0 or larger single-barbed set hooks that have a shank-to-point gap of 1-3/16 (one and three-sixteenths) inches or greater."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
