EXPRESSING THE SORROW OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AT THE DEATH OF ROBERT STONE GALLOWAY, JR., OF GREENVILLE COUNTY, AND EXTENDING ITS SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY.

Whereas, Robert Stone Galloway, Jr., of Greenville County died Sunday, March 2, 1997, at the age of sixty-eight; and

Whereas, Mr. Galloway was born in Due West, a son of the late Robert Stone Galloway and Clara Agnew Galloway; and

Whereas, he was the South Carolina High School Tennis Singles Champion, with a No. 3 national junior ranking, and a member of the College of William and Mary tennis team, twice NCAA tennis champions; and

Whereas, after graduating from the College of William and Mary, he earned the law degree from the University of South Carolina School of Law; and

Whereas, he practiced law for forty-three years before his retirement as a partner with Haynesworth, Marion, McKay and Guerard in Greenville, where he also served as managing partner; and

Whereas, he was a member and former deacon of the Greenville Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, member and former president of the Greenville Country Club and the Poinsett Club, and member of the Greenville Cotillion; and

Whereas, he is survived by Mary Barron Galloway, his wife of forty-three years; their children, Elizabeth Agnew Galloway of Cincinnati and Robert Stone Galloway III of Greenville; their two grandchildren; and his sister, Lila Galloway McMillan of Davidson, North Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina expresses its sorrow at the death of Robert Stone Galloway, Jr., of Greenville County, and extends its sympathy to his wife Mary, their children Elizabeth and Robert III, their grandchildren, his sister, and other relatives and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to his wife and family.
