CONGRATULATING THE STUDENTS, FACULTY, STAFF, AND ADMINISTRATION OF IRMO ELEMENTARY SCHOOL IN LEXINGTON-RICHLAND SCHOOL DISTRICT 5 ON BEING HONORED WITH THE CAROLINA FIRST PALMETTO'S FINEST AWARD.

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives note that the Awards Committee for the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest has named Irmo Elementary School in Lexington-Richland School District 5 the co-recipient of the 1996-97 Palmetto's Finest Award; and

Whereas, this prestigious awards program in its nineteenth year has seen fit to honor a midlands elementary school that exemplifies all that is good and positive in public education in this State; and

Whereas, this award recognizes the hard work of Irmo Elementary School students, teachers, staff, and administration and serves as an exemplar of quality public education. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulates the students, faculty, staff, and administration of Irmo Elementary School in Lexington-Richland School District 5 on being honored with the Carolina First Palmetto's Finest Award.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Principal James R. Shirley.
