A SENATE RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING MR. KELLY ZIER OF NORTH AUGUSTA ON BEING NAMED "THE 1996 NORTH AUGUSTA CITIZEN OF THE YEAR".

Whereas, Mr. Kelly Zier was named "The 1996 North Augusta Citizen of the Year" at the annual Greater North Augusta Chamber of Commerce Banquet in January, 1997; and

Whereas, he graduated from Furman University and earned his law degree from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, he has served for twenty-five years as attorney for the City of North Augusta; he served as vice president and as president of the Sertoma Club of North Augusta in the 1970's and will assume the post of president again in 1998; he was elected to the Board of Directors of the Greater North Augusta Chamber of Commerce in 1981, served two terms on the board, and was president in 1984-85; and

Whereas, he has served his church, First Baptist of North Augusta, in numerous capacities and has coached youth baseball, football, basketball, and soccer and has been active in the Yellow Jacket Club of North Augusta High School; and

Whereas, in 1996 he was selected to receive the Sertoman of the Year Lifetime Award; and

Whereas, Kelly Zier is an outstanding individual in every way; he is devoted to his community and has always given freely of his time, talent, and resources whenever called upon; everyone who knows him deeply respects and admires him, and the citizens of North Augusta have every reason to be proud of his accomplishments. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates Mr. Kelly Zier of North Augusta on being named "The 1996 North Augusta Citizen of the Year".

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Zier.
