A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO PROVIDE THAT FORMER MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY WHOSE "LOST TRUST" INDICTMENTS WERE DISMISSED BY THE ORDER OF THE HONORABLE FALCON HAWKINS, SENIOR UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT JUDGE FOR THE DISTRICT OF SOUTH CAROLINA, ARE DEEMED TO HAVE CONTINUOUS SERVICE IN THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY FOR THE PURPOSES OF COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE DATE OF THIS JOINT RESOLUTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Former members of the General Assembly whose "Lost Trust" indictments were dismissed with prejudice pursuant to the order of the Honorable Falcon Hawkins, Senior United States District Court Judge for the District of South Carolina, in his order filed February 28, 1997, in the matter of the United States of America v. Taylor, et. al, are deemed to have continuous service as members of the General Assembly for all purposes of compensation and benefits through the effective date of this joint resolution.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
