A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO DIRECT THE DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION, IN CONSULTATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF MENTAL HEALTH, TO STUDY THE DISCIPLINARY PROBLEMS OF MALES IN PRIMARY AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS AND TO REQUIRE THE DEPARTMENT TO SUBMIT ITS FINDINGS TO THE HOUSE AND SENATE EDUCATION COMMITTEES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Mental Health, shall conduct a study of disciplinary problems of males in primary and middle schools and shall submit a report on its findings to the House and Senate Education Committees by January 1, 1999.

SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
