TO COMMEND JOHN M. HILLIARD III, SPECIAL PROSECUTOR FOR THE FIFTEENTH CIRCUIT, FOR HIS RECOGNITION BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA VICTIM ASSISTANCE NETWORK AS A WINNER OF THE 1997 SILVER SCALES OF JUSTICE CRIMINAL JUSTICE AWARD.
Whereas, John M. Hilliard III, of Georgetown, South Carolina, serves as special prosecutor for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit; and
Whereas, in that capacity, he has had the opportunity to affect the lives of numerous victims of crime; and
Whereas, he has risen to that challenge professionally, being a relentless, skilled, and diligent prosecutor of those accused of committing crimes; and
Whereas, he has personally faced that challenge, unfailingly treating the victims of those criminals with compassion, respect, and sensitivity; and
Whereas, he also makes time to assist both groups and individuals in understanding the justice system and how the system can work effectively and sensitively; and
Whereas, the South Carolina Victim Assistance Network has recognized John M. Hilliard III as an outstanding servant to victims of crime by awarding him a 1997 Silver Scales of Justice Criminal Justice Award. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly commend John M. Hilliard III, of Georgetown, South Carolina, special prosecutor for the Fifteenth Judicial Circuit on his recognition by the South Carolina Victim Assistance Network as an outstanding servant to victims of crime and as a winner of the 1997 Silver Scales of Justice Criminal Justice Award.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Hilliard.
