A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND MR. CLARENCE O. JACKSON OF SIMPSONVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA, UPON HIS ELECTION AS PRESIDENT OF THE STATE USHERS AUXILIARY OF BAPTIST EDUCATION MISSIONARY CONVENTION.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are very pleased to learn that Mr. Clarence O. Jackson of Simpsonville, South Carolina, has been elected President of the State Ushers Auxiliary of the Baptist Education Missionary Convention; and

Whereas, his election to this office continues a great tradition of service which Mr. Jackson has rendered throughout his career to his church, state, and community. He has served as Deacon Chairman for the Reedy Fork Missionary Baptist Church, is Secretary Emeritus of the Reedy River Baptist Association, and has been active in the NAACP and in many other civic and community endeavors; and

Whereas, Mr. Jackson holds an A.B. Degree from Benedict College in Columbia, South Carolina, an M.A. Degree from North Carolina A & T University in Greensboro, North Carolina, and received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters Degree from Morris College in 1977; and

Whereas, he is an educator of long standing in Greenville County where he was a classroom teacher for thirty-one years and a member of the administration of the Greenville County School District for more than ten years; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this truly outstanding South Carolinian upon his election to this distinguished office. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby commend Mr. Clarence O. Jackson of Simpsonville, South Carolina, upon his election as President of the State Ushers Auxiliary of Baptist Education Missionary Convention.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Jackson.
