A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE DETECTIVE P. WENDELL HALL OF THE CITY OF AIKEN DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY FOR HIS EXCEPTIONAL AND CRITICAL TECHNICAL CONTRIBUTIONS TO THE DEPARTMENT, RESULTING IN HIS NOMINATION FOR THE "OUTSTANDING LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICER AWARD" OF THE AMERICAN SOCIETY FOR INDUSTRIAL SECURITY.

Whereas, P. Wendell Hall is a twenty-one year veteran of law enforcement serving as a detective with the City of Aiken Public Safety Department; and

Whereas, in addition to his regular duties, Detective Hall is responsible for numerous technical aspects of the department's law enforcement efforts; and

Whereas, his technical expertise is critical to the department's undercover operations, in that he maintains the equipment for undercover installations leading to evidence in cases such as employee thefts, burglaries, and drug deals; and

Whereas, he was instrumental in installing technical equipment for a recent successful sting operation; and

Whereas, his technical expertise is also critical to the department in the actual solution of crimes because he is innovative in the applications of modern technology to law enforcement; and

Whereas, Detective Hall also is responsible for taking care of all the department's weapon needs, including training, weapon repair, and selection and ordering of weapons; and

Whereas, he recognized in 1979 the need for firearm training for women, establishing classes to teach women not only how and when to shoot, but also the consequence of shooting their weapons; and

Whereas, he conducts five to eight classes a year, offering an invaluable service to the citizens of Aiken through this continuing firearms program; and

Whereas, Major R. E. Hardt and J. C. Busbee of the City of Aiken Department of Public Safety selected Detective Hall for special commendation for his technical contributions by nominating him for the "Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer Award" of the Central Savannah River Chapter of the American Society for Industrial Security. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That members of the House of Representatives recognize Detective P. Wendell Hall of the City of Aiken Department of Public Safety for his exceptional and critical technical contributions to the department resulting in his nomination for the "Outstanding Law Enforcement Officer Award" of the American Society for Industrial Security.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Detective P. Wendell Hall.
