TO APPROVE REGULATIONS OF THE BOARD OF EDUCATION, RELATING TO PHILOSOPHY OF COMMUNITY EDUCATION (REPEAL), DESIGNATED AS REGULATION DOCUMENT NUMBER 2020, PURSUANT TO THE PROVISIONS OF ARTICLE 1, CHAPTER 23, TITLE 1 OF THE 1976 CODE.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The regulations of the Board of Education, relating to Philosophy of Community Education (Repeal), designated as Regulation Document Number 2020, and submitted to the General Assembly pursuant to the provisions of Article 1, Chapter 23, Title 1 of the 1976 Code, are approved.
SECTION 2. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
SUMMARY AS SUBMITTED BY PROMULGATING AGENCY.
In 1976 the South Carolina General Assembly passed a bill which became known as the Community Education Act of 1976 which set the legal basis for Community Education and placed it under the jurisdiction of the South Carolina Department of Education. The Regulation, 43-254, Philosophy of Community Education, is inherent in the Community Education Act. Therefore, the State Board of Education is recommending that this regulation be repealed in its entirety.
