A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE THE SPARTANBURG HIGH SCHOOL VIKINGS FOR THEIR FOURTH CONSECUTIVE SOUTH CAROLINA AAAA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO CONGRATULATE THE GOLFERS FOR THIS FIRST-EVER ACCOMPLISHMENT.

Whereas, the Spartanburg High School Golf Team won the 1997 AAAA State Golf Tournament at Furman University Golf Course with a score of 907 for the 54-hole event; and

Whereas, this year's trophy-winning effort marks the fourth State 4A Championship in a row for the Spartanburg Vikings; and

Whereas, no other AAAA golf team in the State has accomplished that feat in the history of high school golf; and

Whereas, six of the Spartanburg golfers are seniors who will play golf on college teams next year after bringing home a state title each year of their high school careers; and

Whereas, Viking Coach John Craig is justifiably proud of his team's effort and the accomplishments of his six seniors as a class. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly recognize the Spartanburg High School Vikings for their fourth consecutive South Carolina AAAA Golf Championship, and to congratulate the golfers for this first-ever accomplishment.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach John Craig.
