A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE HONORABLE RANDY BLACKWELL ON RECEIVING THE 1997 SOUTH CAROLINA AMBASSADOR FOR ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT AWARD FOR CLARENDON COUNTY.

Whereas, the Honorable Randy Blackwell is the son of Dr. Gordon Blackwell, former President of Furman University, and Mrs. Blackwell; and

Whereas, his wife, Lynelle is owner of the legendary Summerton Diner; and

Whereas, Randy is a respected businessman in his community who is Vice President of Century 21, Santee Associates and Chairman of the Clarendon County Development Board; and

Whereas, on May 19, 1997, Governor David Beasley and Secretary of Commerce Robert Royal presented him with the 1997 South Carolina Ambassador for Economic Development Award for Clarendon County for his efforts toward encouraging corporate decision makers to invest in existing South Carolina plants, assisting with the planning and implementation of infrastructure critical to economic development and assisting in local economic development efforts through providing support services; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly would like to congratulate Randy upon receiving this prestigious honor. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Honorable Randy Blackwell of Clarendon County on receiving the 1997 South Carolina Ambassador for Economic Development Award for Clarendon County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to the Honorable and Mrs. Randy Blackwell and copies forwarded to the members of the Clarendon County Development Board and the Honorable Robert Royal, Secretary of Commerce.
