CONGRATULATING THE D. W. DANIEL HIGH SCHOOL LIONS ON WINNING THE 1997 CLASS AAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP IN BOYS SOCCER.
Whereas, the D. W. Daniel High School Lions have clinched the 1997 Class AAA state championship in boys soccer; and
Whereas, the Lions won the title on Saturday, May 24, 1997, at the University of South Carolina's Eugene E. Stone III Stadium in Columbia by defeating the Trojans of James Island High School by a score of 5-0; and
Whereas, the championship victory was Daniel High's twelfth shutout in 1997; and
Whereas, the Lions, who were superbly directed throughout the season by Head Coach Rick Harkins, finished the 1997 campaign with an excellent 18-2 overall record; and
Whereas, the talent, determination, hard work, and unity of the Daniel Lions paid off handsomely with the state championship crown, and we are delighted to have this opportunity to recognize this special group of student athletes. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the D. W. Daniel High School Lions on winning the 1997 Class AAA state championship in boys soccer.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Daniel High School Boys Soccer Team in care of Head Coach Rick Harkins.
