TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 59-19-85 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES MAY NOT DEVOLVE ITS DISCIPLINARY RESPONSIBILITIES IMPOSED ON IT BY LAW UPON A SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL, OR OTHER STAFF PERSON AT A LOCAL SCHOOL.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 59-19-85. A school board of trustees may not devolve its disciplinary responsibilities imposed on it by law upon a school principal, assistant principal, or other staff person at a local school."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
