A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 8-11-197 SO AS TO EXTEND EMPLOYEE BENEFITS TO ALL FULL-TIME EMPLOYEES OF STATE AGENCIES AND INSTITUTIONS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 11, Title 8 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 8-11-197. Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, any person working fulltime for a state agency or institution, whether or not considered a temporary employee, is eligible to receive all those state-paid employee benefits provided by law to full-time permanent state employees."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 1997, and applies for persons hired after June 30, 1997.
