EXPRESSING THE CONGRATULATIONS AND BEST WISHES OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE HONORABLE DAVID M. BEASLEY, GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS FORTIETH BIRTHDAY.
Whereas, the members of the Senate note that The Honorable David M. Beasley, Governor of the State of South Carolina, celebrates today, February 26, 1997, his fortieth birthday; and
Whereas, celebrating one's fortieth birthday and entering into the fifth decade of life marks a milestone on the path of life, noted perhaps reluctantly by the celebrant, but nevertheless inescapable in reminding us all of the inexorable passage of time which waits for no man, not even a governor; and
Whereas, most members of the Senate can reassure the Governor that there is life after age forty, albeit at a slightly slower pace and interrupted by more frequent visits to the doctor; and
Whereas, we are confident that Governor Beasley's good humor and sense of equanimity will see him through the day. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate express their congratulations and best wishes to The Honorable David M. Beasley, Governor of the State of South Carolina, on the occasion of his fortieth birthday.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to The Honorable David M. Beasley .
