A HOUSE RESOLUTION

COMMENDING JAMES C. (BUD) PARRIS OF CHEROKEE COUNTY FOR HIS MANY CONTRIBUTIONS AND OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO HIS COMMUNITY.

Whereas, James C. (Bud) Parris of Cherokee County served as a page in the South Carolina House of Representatives from 1931 to 1934 and is the retired postmaster in Gaffney; and

Whereas, his father, the late Jefferson Davis Parris, was member of the House of Representatives from Cherokee County from 1927 to 1928, 1931 to 1932, 1933 to 1934, 1947 to 1948, and 1949 to 1950, and served also in the South Carolina Senate from 1935 to 1936 and 1937 to 1938; and

Whereas, Bud Parris has been retired as postmaster for twenty-five years; he is one of the first postmasters to work his way through the ranks to attain this high position; he was a B-25 bomber pilot, and he served fifteen years in the National Guard; on February 10, 1998, he will celebrate fifty-eight years of marriage to his lovely wife; in 1968 he received the Sertoma "Service to Mankind" award; in 1969 he was named the "Olin D. Johnston Outstanding Postmaster of South Carolina"; he is a Mason and has been a Shriner for forty years; and

Whereas, Bud Parris is an outstanding member of his community; he has contributed his time, talents, and resources over the years in countless ways to the well-being of Gaffney and Cherokee County; he comes from an illustrious family and is respected, admired, and loved by all who know him; and he is highly deserving of recognition. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend James C. (Bud) Parris of Cherokee County for his many contributions and outstanding service to his community.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. James C. (Bud) Parris.
