A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 7-1-90 SO AS TO REQUIRE REFERENDUMS ON THE QUESTION OF RAISING THE BONDED INDEBTEDNESS LIMITS OF POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS AND SCHOOL DISTRICTS TO BE HELD AT THE GENERAL ELECTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Chapter 1, Title 7 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 7-1-90. A referendum on the question of raising the bonded indebtedness limit of a political subdivision or school district must be held on the date established by law for the general election."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor and applies with respect to referendums not yet scheduled as of that date.
