TO CONGRATULATE JOHN M. HAMRICK ON THE OCCASION OF HIS INDUCTION INTO THE SOUTH CAROLINA BUSINESS HALL OF FAME.
Whereas, John M. Hamrick, chairman of Hamrick Mills in Gaffney, will be inducted into the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame on May 22, 1997, at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Columbia; and
Whereas, Mr. Hamrick is a native of Gaffney and a graduate of Gaffney High School; and
Whereas, Mr. Hamrick graduated from Duke University in 1934 and immediately began work for the textile mills founded at the turn of the century by his grandfather, Dr. Wylie Hamrick; and
Whereas, as a result of Mr. Hamrick's outstanding leadership, Hamrick Mills became one of the state's leading textile manufacturing companies; and
Whereas, Mr. Hamrick is a former president and director of the South Carolina Textile Manufacturers Association; and
Whereas, Mr. Hamrick, as a director and former president of the American Textile Institute and a director of the Textile Corporation, the Institute of Textile Technology, and the Sirrine Foundation, has worked through the business community to contribute to the economic well-being of our State; and
Whereas, Mr. Hamrick was inducted into the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce Hall of Fame in 1992; and
Whereas, his professional skill and dedication for many years in the business community is truly outstanding and serves to make him most deserving for induction into the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate John M. Hamrick on the occasion of his induction into the South Carolina Business Hall of Fame on May 22, 1997, at the Adam's Mark Hotel in Columbia.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Hamrick.
