A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING JOHN FRANKLIN, JR., OF LEE COUNTY ON HIS EIGHTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY, AND EXTENDING HIM BEST WISHES FOR MANY HAPPY RETURNS OF THE DAY.

Whereas, John Franklin, Jr., of Lee County was born February 21, 1917, and on February 21, 1998, he turned "eighty-one years young"; and

Whereas, Mr. Franklin married Ruth C. Franklin on September 15, 1941; they have four children: Betty J. Buckly, Samuel C. Franklin, Randolph R. Franklin, and Patricia M. Frierson; Mr. and Mrs. Franklin also have ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and

Whereas Mr. Franklin is a farmer and merchant and established Franklin's Grocery in 1963, and Mrs. Franklin is a beautician and homemaker; and

Whereas, he is a devoted family man and church member; he is respected, admired, and loved throughout the community; and we are delighted to have the opportunity to recognize him in this special way on the happy occasion of his eighty-first birthday. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates John Franklin, Jr., of Lee County on his eighty-first birthday and extends him best wishes for many happy returns of the day.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Franklin.
