EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. HARRIETT BREWER GIBBONS OF CLARENDON COUNTY AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are deeply saddened to learn that Mrs. Harriett Brewer Gibbons of Clarendon County died on Saturday, February 28, 1998; and
Whereas, Mrs. Gibbons was born in Manning and was the daughter of the late Donald McQueen Bagnal and the late Mary Holladay Bagnal; and
Whereas, Harriett Brewer Gibbons is survived by her son, William J. Brewer of Manning, a member of the Board of Directors of Farmers Telephone Cooperative of Kingstree; four daughters, The Honorable Barnie Lee Morris, Probate Judge of Clarendon County, Harriett Edith Brewer of Manning, Rebecca Irene "Becky" Bradham, and Martha Ellen Herlong of Sumter; a brother, Everette Bagnal of Manning; ten grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren; and
Whereas, Mrs. Gibbons had retired following a long and dedicated career in nursing; and
Whereas, this sweet and beautiful woman was a member of the Oak Grove United Methodist Church; and
Whereas, this dear and caring lady will be sorely missed by all whose lives touched her; and
Whereas, we want the members of the her family and her many friends to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly express appreciation for Mrs. Harriett Gibbons' life and her many contributions to Clarendon County. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mrs. Harriett Brewer Gibbons and extend their deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Harriett Brewer Gibbons.
