A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE THANKS AND APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO LIEUTENANT ROBERT DRUE "BOBBY" SHARPE, CORPORAL DANNY RUSSELL FRAZIER, CORPORAL DAVID EARL McCASKIL, AND OFFICER BRYAN KEITH PREVETTE, MEMBERS OF THE WEST COLUMBIA POLICE DEPARTMENT'S RESERVE POLICE OFFICER PROGRAM, FOR THEIR EXEMPLARY VOLUNTEER SERVICES TO THE CITIZENS AND POLICE DEPARTMENT OF THE CITY OF WEST COLUMBIA.

Whereas, the citizens of the City of West Columbia, like all Americans, have come to expect, demand, and depend on stable, efficient, police and police departments to provide proper law enforcement and a reasonably safe community within which to live, work, and raise their families without fear of the criminal element; and

Whereas, in recognition of the fact that the services of volunteer, reserve police officers who train and serve on their own time, without pay, provides additional, reliable man power when needed or essential to deployment of police in sufficient strength in emergencies, and at certain other times and places beneficial to the public, including traffic control, parades, marathon runs, dignitary protection, and the proper performance of routine police duties, and the City of West Columbia has developed one of the finest police reserve programs in this state; and

Whereas, the Police Department of the City of West Columbia currently has four dedicated, highly trained, reserve police officers, Lieutenant Robert Drue "Bobby" Sharpe, Corporal Danny Russell Frazier, Corporal David Earl McCaskil, Officer Bryan Keith Prevette, each of which have served the City of West Columbia from a minimum of five to nineteen years or more, and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are aware of the extraordinary contributions these reserve police officers make to their community in the protection of life and property, and that these dedicated reserve police officers obtain the required training and perform their volunteer services knowing not only that careers and family life are regularly disrupted, but also with the full knowledge that the public service they have undertaken is at great risk to their personal safety. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their thanks and appreciation to Lieutenant Robert Drue "Bobby" Sharpe, Corporal Danny Russell Frazier, Corporal David Earl McCaskil, and Officer Bryan Keith Prevette, members of the West Columbia Police Department's reserve police officer program, for their exemplary volunteer services to the citizens and police Department of the City of West Columbia.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be forwarded to Lieutenant Robert Drue "Bobby" Sharpe, Corporal Danny Russell Frazier, Corporal David Earl McCaskil, Officer Bryan Keith Prevette, and to the Chief of the Police Department of the City of West Columbia.
