A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE COACH MIKE JOHNSON OF GEORGETOWN HIGH SCHOOL ON THE OCCASION OF HIS FIVE HUNDREDTH CAREER BASEBALL WIN AND TO EXPRESS APPRECIATION FOR HIS TWENTY-EIGHT YEARS OF CONTRIBUTION TO THE GROWTH AND MATURITY OF HUNDREDS OF YOUNG PEOPLE.

Whereas, Coach Mike Johnson of Georgetown High School recently claimed his five hundredth baseball victory, a 9-5 win over James Island in the International Paper Baseball Classic; and

Whereas, in a successful career that spans twenty-eight years since he began coaching the Georgetown Bulldogs in 1970, his overall record stands at an impressive 500-258; and

Whereas, that milestone was even sweeter for Coach Johnson because his son Michael, a senior at Georgetown and a student of baseball under the tutelage of Coach Johnson at home and at school, contributed five runs batted in, including a three-run homer, and three scoreless innings on the mound to pace the Bulldog win; and

Whereas, Coach Johnson has had the opportunity to guide hundred of other young men during his twenty-eight years at the helm of Georgetown High School's baseball program. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Coach Mike Johnson of Georgetown High School on the occasion of his five hundredth career baseball win and express their appreciation for his twenty-eight years of contribution to the growth and maturity of hundreds of young people.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Coach Johnson.
