TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-11-490 SO AS TO AUTHORIZE THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD TO CONTRACT ON A COMPETITIVE BID BASIS FOR WORKERS' COMPENSATION INSURANCE FOR THE STATE AND POLITICAL SUBDIVISIONS OF THE STATE, INCLUDING SCHOOL DISTRICTS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Article 1, Chapter 11, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Section 1-11-490. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the State Budget and Control Board is authorized to contract for the State and its political subdivisions, including school districts, through a competitive solicitation for workers' compensation insurance.
Contracts may be solicited and awarded consistent with the provisions of Chapter 35 of Title 11, the South Carolina Consolidated Procurement Code."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
