A BILL

TO AMEND CHAPTER 7 OF TITLE 16, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO OFFENSES AGAINST THE PEACE, BY ADDING SECTION 16-7-180 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PERSON WHO ADVOCATES, THROUGH CERTAIN NAMED ACTS, THE VIOLENT OR FORCEFUL OVERTHROW OF THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES, THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, OR ANY POLITICAL SUBDIVISION IS GUILTY OF A FELONY AND TO PROVIDE PENALTIES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Chapter 7 of Title 16 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 16-7-180.

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
