A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON THE DEATH OF DEACON ISSIAH ROSS, SR., OF VIENNA, GEORGIA, AND TO EXTEND DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Deacon Issiah Ross, Sr., of Vienna, Georgia; and

Whereas, he was the son of Mrs. Mabel Ross and the late Elder Mort Ross; and

Whereas, the former Deacon Ross is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Annie Eva Bryant Ross; and

Whereas, together Deacon and Mrs. Ross reared eleven children with one son preceding him in death; and

Whereas, Deacon Ross was a member of the St. Mark Baptist Church, where he served faithfully until his failing health prevented him from attending services; and

Whereas, he was ordained a Deacon under the pastorate of Reverend N. Jackson and served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years; and

Whereas, Deacon Ross was a 32nd Degree Mason, a member of Franklin Lodge No. 210, the Royal Arch Keystone Chapter No. 3, Charlie B. Brown Consistory No. 353, St. John Chapter No. 88, and the O.E.S. and Heroine of Jericho-Joshua Court No. 7, and was retired from the Georgia Pacific Corporation; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, wish to express their deepest sympathy to his widow, children, other family members, and friends upon the death of this truly fine gentleman. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Deacon Issiah Ross, Sr., of Vienna, Georgia.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to his widow, Mrs. Annie Eva Bryant Ross of Vienna, Georgia.
