COMMENDING AND THANKING DIRECTOR JAMES A. MCCAULLEY FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE TO THE COUNTY OF RICHLAND, AND EXTENDING BEST WISHES TO HIM UPON HIS RETIREMENT.
Whereas, Director James A. McCaulley, a native of Lakeland, Florida, served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1973 and attained the rank of captain; he served two tours of duty in Vietnam, with the following affiliations: the 199th Infantry Brigade; the 9th United States Army Infantry Division; and MACSOG (Military Assistance Command Studies and Observations Group); he was the recipient of numerous military awards, including the Bronze Star; and his specialized training in the Army included the Military Officers Intelligence Career Course and the United States Army Aviation Flight School; and
Whereas, upon being honorably discharged from the Army in 1973, Captain McCaulley joined the Richland County Sheriff's Department and, over the ensuing years, served in the following capacities: deputy sheriff; criminal investigator; aircraft commander; Captain, Chief of the Criminal Investigations Division; and Director of the Richland County Detention Center (for the past twelve years), the office from which he is retiring in 1998; and
Whereas, he has rendered outstanding service to the Richland County Sheriff's Department in all of these capacities and has been a model director of the county's detention center; he is widely respected and admired for his hard work, abilities, and leadership, and he has served the County of Richland superbly; we are genuinely pleased to have this opportunity to recognize him in this special manner. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, commend and thank Director James A. McCaulley for his many years of outstanding service to the County of Richland and extend best wishes to him upon his retirement.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Director McCaulley.
