A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING THE INDIAN LAND HIGH SCHOOL "LADY WARRIORS" SOFTBALL TEAM OF FORT MILL AND COACH DON PITTMAN FOR THEIR 29-3 SEASON CAPPED BY WINNING THEIR SECOND STRAIGHT CLASS A STATE SOFTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, the Indian Land High School "Lady Warriors" soundly defeated Wagener-Salley 10-0 to capture the Class A State Softball Championship for the second year running; and

Whereas, the Lady Warriors had a grueling thirty-two game schedule but with strong fortitude and drive, raw talent, and exceptional coaching, they reigned victorious with a 29-3 season; and

Whereas, with the 1998 season completed, the Senior Lady Warriors, all of whom are college bound, are ending their high school careers with a 128-21 record; and

Whereas, this team is bursting with talent, including pitcher Jessica Patterson who broke two state pitching records and equaled three state records, three players who received Class A All-State honors, and two who were named CN2 Athlete of the Week; and

Whereas, this team is to be commended for not only outstanding athletic abilities but also for being well-rounded and extremely talented in many areas and includes volleyball and basketball players, cheerleaders, the student body president, academic scholars, the band drum major, homecoming queen, and the North-South All-Star Football Queen; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to have the opportunity to recognize this exceptional group of young women, Coach Don Pittman, and Assistant Coach Tommy Wade. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Indian Land High School "Lady Warriors" Softball Team of Fort Mill and Coach Don Pittman for their 29-3 season capped by winning their second straight Class A State Softball Championship.
