TO EXTEND THE SYMPATHY OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF THE HONORABLE MARGARET KENNEDY THOMPSON, PROBATE JUDGE OF ORANGEBURG COUNTY, WHO PASSED AWAY MARCH 12, 1997.
Whereas, the Honorable Margaret Kennedy Thompson passed away March 12, 1997; and
Whereas, Judge Thompson was first elected probate judge of Orangeburg County in 1990; and
Whereas, Judge Thompson worked diligently for the probate court for over twenty-five years; and
Whereas, Judge Thompson was known for her dedication and willingness to assist those who came to her office; and
Whereas, Judge Thompson also found time to serve her community in various professional and service organizations; and
Whereas, Judge Thompson espoused the belief that people deserve to be treated with fairness and respect, and that belief was reflected in her approach to people she contacted; and
Whereas, Judge Thompson was known for her kindness, compassion, and good heart, as well as her desire to put the happiness of others before her own; and
Whereas, Judge Thompson will be sorely missed by the citizens of Orangeburg County and of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly extends its deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of the Honorable Margaret Kennedy Thompson, Probate Judge of Orangeburg County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Eusebio Thompson, beloved son of Judge Thompson.
