TO RECOGNIZE THE DESCENDANTS OF LUCINDA AND JAMES HARRIS ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR REUNION JOINING MANY FRIENDS AND FAMILY, BEGINNING ON THURSDAY, JULY 10, 1997, AND ENDING ON MONDAY, JULY 14, 1997, IN GREENVILLE, SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, the descendants of James and Lucinda Harris will gather for a reunion of family and friends beginning on Thursday, July 10, 1997, and ending on Monday, July 14, 1997, in Greenville, South Carolina; and

Whereas, the numerous activities of the Harris Family Reunion will include a dance party, a picnic, a visit to the zoo, a fashion show, movies, board games and worship service at John Wesley United Methodist Church; and

Whereas, the descendants of James and Lucinda Harris include the distinguished Byrd, Evans, Kerns, Rooks, Hunter, Harris, Walker, Miller, Wilson and Williams families; and

Whereas, the Harris Family Reunion Planning Committee will distribute a directory of all known family members in order to reunite, maintain, preserve and strengthen an outstanding and prolific family tree; and

Whereas, the Harris family tree stretches throughout all regions of the United States and includes many outstanding individuals that contribute enormously to all facets of society; and

Whereas, the descendants of James and Lucinda Harris have grown to be responsible, dedicated and trustworthy citizens throughout their community, state and country. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, would like to publicly recognize and congratulate the friends and family of James and Lucinda Harris on the occasion of the Harris Family Reunion.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Harris Family Reunion Planning Committee.
