A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND EXTEND SINCERE GRATITUDE FROM THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO MR. CLIVE CUSSLER FOR HIS DISCOVERY OF THE H. L. HUNLEY AND FOR HIS CONTINUING DEVOTION TO THE HUNLEY AND ITS CREW.

Whereas, Mr. Clive Cussler is a noted author with a love of maritime history and shipwreck exploration; and

Whereas, Mr. Cussler's energy and personal funds enabled the search for the H.L. Hunley to continue for many years despite any tangible achievements; and

Whereas, these efforts by Mr. Cussler culminated in the discovery of the Hunley by his National Underwater & Marine Agency (NUMA) group in 1995. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly and the people of South Carolina and the world who are interested in this seminal piece of maritime history owe Mr. Clive Cussler a debt of gratitude for his discovery of the H. L. Hunley, and for his ongoing help in completing the journey home of the Hunley and her crew which began its expedition on February 17, 1864.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Clive Cussler.
