TO EXPRESS THE SINCERE APPRECIATION AND GRATITUDE OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE HONORABLE CHARLES M. CONDON FOR HIS TIRELESS DEDICATION AND DEVOTION ON BEHALF OF THE HISTORIC H.L. HUNLEY SUBMARINE.
Whereas, Attorney General Condon's tireless dedication and devotion on behalf of the H.L. Hunley submarine helped guarantee that the Hunley and her gallant crew would remain in South Carolina in perpetuity; and
Whereas, General Condon's efforts have helped ensure that although the Hunley and her crew disappeared the night of February 17, 1864, they are not forgotten; and
Whereas, through General Condon's contributions, we are closer to completing the journey home of the Hunley that was begun over 130 years ago. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly and the people of South Carolina and the world who are interested in this seminal piece of maritime history owe Attorney General Condon a tremendous debt of gratitude for his volunteer efforts on behalf of the H.L. Hunley and the State of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
the Honorable Charles M. Condon.
