A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE GREAT FALLS HIGH SCHOOL BOYS' BASKETBALL TEAM, COACH AND STAFF FOR WINNING THE 1996-97 CLASS 'A' STATE BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP AND CONTINUING A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCE.

Whereas, the Great Falls High School "Red Devils" boys' basketball team, under the direction of Head Coach John Smith and Assistant Coaches Leon Boulware and Jeff Holmes, won the 1996-97 Class 'A' State Basketball Championship; and

Whereas, Great Falls High School has further established and continued a tradition of excellence by winning the Class 'A' State Boys' Basketball Championship for the second consecutive year; and

Whereas, the legendary Coach John Smith has led the "Red Devils" to the state championship three times in a row and five out of the last six years; and

Whereas, Great Falls High School has posted a remarkable record of 54-0 over the last two years and currently enjoys the second longest winning streak in the history of South Carolina boy's basketball; and

Whereas, winning the state championship is a true testimony to the talent and desire for excellence of the players, coaches and school officials of Great Falls High School. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, congratulate the Great Falls High School "Red Devils" boys' basketball players, Coach John Smith and staff and recognize the continuing dedication, drive and commitment to excellence of this outstanding team of players and coaches.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to

the Great Falls Boys' Basketball Team in care of Head Coach John Smith.
