A SENATE RESOLUTION

SALUTING HARVEY LAMBERT OF LEXINGTON COUNTY, THE PROPRIETOR AND SOLE OPERATOR OF LAMBERT'S BARBER SHOP IN TRIANGLE CITY IN WEST COLUMBIA, FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COMMUNITY AND WISHING HIM HAPPINESS UPON HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Harvey Lambert of Lexington County has for many years been the proprietor and sole operator of Lambert's Barber Shop in Triangle City in West Columbia; and

Whereas, Mr. Lambert's barber shop is recognized as a Lexington County institution and landmark; it has been a community center of fellowship and for exchange of passionate political debate and for providing an important campaign stop for winning candidates whom Mr. Lambert always greeted warmly, such as Governor Jim Edwards, Governor Carroll Campbell, Governor David Beasley, First Lady Mary Wood Beasley, Lieutenant Governor Bob Peeler, and Attorney General Charlie Condon; and

Whereas, Lambert's Barber Shop has always featured friendly, professional service, and Harvey Lambert is always a source of encouragement to young people from birth through school; he has been especially a friend of JROTC and ROTC members of the Midlands; he has been a proven friend of the South Carolina Army and Air National Guard; and

Whereas, Harvey Lambert is renowned for giving children their first haircuts and for making home visits for terminally ill clients; and

Whereas, Lambert's Barber Shop is famous for establishing a haircut price of $1.75 and for holding that price steady for over twenty-five years; Mr. Lambert is well-known for monitoring children entrusted to him for haircuts, practically creating a baby-sitting service; and

Whereas, Harvey Lambert is one of the most respected and admired businessmen in the community; he has always genuinely cared about other people and has always gone out of his way to help others; his barber shop has served as a community-gathering spot and has been a source of entertainment, information, news, help, and encouragement for countless individuals over the years; and

Whereas, Harvey Lambert is retiring this year after having actively devoted himself to the best interests of the community for a very long time. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, salute Harvey Lambert of Lexington County, the proprietor and sole operator of Lambert's Barber Shop in Triangle City in West Columbia, for his many years of service to the community and wish him happiness upon his retirement.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Lambert.
