A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE HONORABLE JULIAN M. WILLIAMS, NIGHT MAGISTRATE FOR AIKEN COUNTY, ON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, on June 30, 1997, after several years of dedicated service to the citizens of Aiken County as Night Magistrate for Aiken County, Julian M. Williams will undertake and pursue a much deserved retirement; and

Whereas, Julian M. Williams was born on May 31, 1936, in Augusta, Georgia, and later moved to Aiken County, graduating from Langley- Bath-Clearwater High School, and, except for absences due to periods of military service, has been a citizen, and resident of Aiken County for fifty-six years; and

Whereas, Julian M. Williams has a distinguished career spanning twenty-eight years of military service including service in the United States Naval Reserve, and in excess of twenty years active duty in the United States Air Force, from which service he retired as a Master Sergeant after an assignment to the office of the United States Air Force Superintendent of Operations; and

Whereas, throughout his career Julian M. Williams has consistently participated in community and service organizations, and is a member of Ridgeview Baptist Church, North Augusta, a life member of Aiken Masonic Lodge No. 156, a life member of the Scottish Rite Temple, Manilla, Republic of the Phillippines, where he became a 32nd degree mason, a member of the Nile Shrine Temple, Seattle, Washington, and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Indian Harbor Beach, Florida; and

Whereas, he married Elina E. Williams on December 3, 1969, and together with his beloved wife raised a family consisting of one son, Peter, presently serving in Germany as a member of the Armed Forces of the United States, and two daughters, Teresa Ann and Janice Pauline, both presently residing in Oklahoma; and

Whereas, throughout his career Julian M. Williams continually took advantage of Air Force and civilian educational opportunities, was successful in developing his own home repair business following retirement from the military, was appointed on April 20, 1990, to serve as Night Magistrate for Aiken County, since faithfully has served the people of Aiken County as a Judicial Officer and Night Magistrate from which position he is now retiring. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate hereby extend their heartiest and heartfelt congratulations and best wishes for the future to The Honorable Julian M. Williams, Night Magistrate of Aiken County, a dedicated public servant and friend to all, on the occasion of his retirement as a Judicial Officer and Night Magistrate for Aiken County.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to The Honorable Julian M. Williams.
