TO HONOR AND RECOGNIZE DR. HALSTED MCCLURE STONE, SR., FOR HIS FORTY YEARS OF SERVICE TO THE COUNTY OF CHESTER AND THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA AND TO CONGRATULATE DOCTOR STONE FOR HIS PROFESSIONAL ACCOMPLISHMENTS AS A PHYSICIAN AND FOR THE LEADERSHIP HE PROVIDES THROUGH HIS CONTINUING PUBLIC SERVICE AND COMMITMENT TO THE PEOPLE OF CHESTER COUNTY.
Whereas, Dr. Halsted McClure Stone, Sr., is a native of Chester, South Carolina, where for forty years he has tirelessly given his time and efforts to provide leadership and community service to the people of Chester and South Carolina; and
Whereas, after he graduated from Chester High School, he continued his education at two of the state's finest educational institutions, the Citadel and the Medical University of South Carolina where he graduated from medical school; and
Whereas, Dr. Stone served his country in Korea as a Regimental Surgeon for the 7th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Division, United States Army; and
Whereas, Dr. Stone further distinguished himself in his community by his membership on the Chester Jaycees, the Lions and Sertoma Clubs, and Chester United Way; and
Whereas, Dr. Stone is a member of Purity Presbyterian Church where he has served in many capacities, including church elder and as a past deacon; and
Whereas, during his successful professional career his colleagues have recognized his leadership ability by electing him to serve as a past President of the South Carolina Medical Association, through his past service as Chief of Staff of the Chester County Hospital and Nursing Center, and through his current position on the Board of Trustees of the Chester County Hospital and Nursing Center. Now, therefore;
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of representatives concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, hereby publicly recognize and congratulate Dr. Halsted McClure Stone, Sr., for his forty years of service to the people of Chester, including his professional accomplishments as a physician and his community service to the people of Chester and the State of South Carolina.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Dr. Stone.
