A SENATE RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE SINCERE APPRECIATION OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE TO ARNOLD SAMUEL GOODSTEIN FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF DEDICATED AND DEVOTED SERVICE TO THE TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION UPON THE OCCASION OF HIS RETIREMENT.

Whereas, Arnold Samuel Goodstein was born to Melton A. Goodstein and Carolyn R. Heyman, in Florence, South Carolina, and was educated in the schools of Charleston, received a bachelor of arts degree from Davidson College and a law degree from the University of South Carolina, and;

Whereas, during the war in Vietnam, Mr. Goodstein was a combat advisor to the South Vietnamese government, wounded during the Tet offensive, and awarded two Bronze Stars for heroism and cited for valor by the South Vietnamese government' and;

Whereas, Mr. Goodstein served in the Ninety-ninth and One Hundredth General Assemblies, and was a member of the House Committee on the Judiciary, and;

Whereas, Mr. Goodstein was elected to the state Senate for the years 1975 through 1980, and served on various committees, including atomic and nuclear energy, federal relations, legislative library, penal and charitable institutions, privileges and elections, social services, corrections and penology, judiciary, transportation, and banking and insurance' and;

Whereas, Mr. Goodstein is a member of the Beth Elohim Temple, and has served as a director of the Young Men's Christian Association, Vietnam Veterans, and Charleston Armed Forces. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, hereby express gratitude and sincere appreciation to Arnold Samuel Goodstein for his many years of dedicated and devoted service to the Transportation Commission, upon the occasion of his retirement, and wish him many more years of health and prosperity.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Arnold Samuel Goodstein.
