A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND CONGRATULATE THE FAMILY OF SERGEANT FIRST CLASS EDDIE JACKSON AND MRS. JULIE JACKSON OF CAMDEN FOR THEIR SELECTION AS FAMILY OF THE YEAR FOR 1998 BY THE SOUTH CAROLINA ARMY NATIONAL GUARD.

Whereas, Mrs. Julie Jackson and husband, Sergeant First Class Eddie Jackson, were voted as South Carolina Army National Guard's "State Family of the Year" for 1998 in recognition of their unit and community involvement; and

Whereas, Mrs. Julie Jackson is a dynamic organizer in both of the National Guard signal units located in Camden, serving as chairman of the 114th Signal Company's Family Support Group and the 108th Signal Battalion's Family Involvement Council; and

Whereas, in addition to being a spouse to a member of the National Guard, a mother, and holding down full-time employment as a paralegal in a law firm, Mrs. Julie Jackson is the "lead" volunteer for the South Carolina National Guard and a member of the Family Advisory Council; monitoring Family Support Group activity, involvement, and training programs for volunteers and unit leaders, and reports quarterly to the National Guard Bureau; and Mrs. Jackson has attended National Guard Family program workshops and conferences, and recently attended the Army Family Team Building Master Trainer Course, all of which highlights her devotion to family support and assistance within the National Guard community; and

Whereas, Mrs. Jackson's persistence and exceptional efforts were important factors in the Family Support Group's success. Her resourcefulness inspired others and greatly contributed to the family support group's mission. Her ability to use available resources with positive results makes her a great team player and unparalleled in positive performance; and

Whereas, Sergeant First Class Jackson and his wife Julie have indeed excelled in the contributions to the Family Support program, not only the 108th Signal Battalion's, but assisting wherever needed throughout the State. Their diligence and strong belief in the Battalion's Family Support program have resulted in one of the strongest family support groups in the State; and

Whereas, the Jackson's realize the importance of family, friends, and service to their community, State, and nation, and are positive examples of the epitome of the citizen soldier and his family. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate, by this resolution, hereby recognize and congratulate the family of Sergeant First Class Eddie Jackson and Mrs. Julie Jackson of Camden for their selection as Family of the Year for 1998 by the South Carolina Army National Guard.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Sergeant First Class Eddie Jackson and Mrs. Julie Jackson of Camden.
