EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON THE DEATH OF MRS. AMY PATRICK EDWARDS AND EXTENDING THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the untimely death of Amy Patrick Edwards of North Augusta on May 4, 2000, following a tragic accident; and
Whereas, Mrs. Edwards, in the prime of her life, was the faithful, loving wife of Claude Edwards and the devoted and adoring mother of her sons, Patrick, five, and John, three; and
Whereas, a North Augusta resident for the past twenty years, she was a native of Clarke County, Georgia, and the dearly-loved daughter of Betty and Hillman Patrick of Winder, Georgia, and the loyal sister of Gail Sayers of Hull, Georgia; and
Whereas, Amy Edwards was a registered nurse in the surgical intensive care unit at the Medical College of Georgia, known for her professionalism and dedication and for the kind and loving care she gave to all her patients; and
Whereas, Mrs. Edwards was a loyal member of the First Baptist Church and a former Sunday School teacher who was deeply committed to her beliefs and a true witness to her faith; and
Whereas, in the midst of her very busy life, she was able to find time to volunteer at her children's school, giving of herself and her talents, and sharing precious time with her beloved boys; and
Whereas, Amy Edwards was a woman loved and admired by those whose lives she touched, and she will be greatly missed by her devoted family and many, many friends. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon the death of Mrs. Amy Patrick Edwards and extend their deepest sympathy to her family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Claude Edwards, of North Augusta.
