A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA SENATE UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF MRS. LUCY JANE SCURRY TIMMERMAN OF EDGEFIELD AND EXTEND THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HER FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Lucy Jane Scurry Timmerman of Edgefield on April 10, 2000, at the age of ninety; and

Whereas, Mrs. Timmerman, a lifelong South Carolinian was a native of Edgefield County; and

Whereas, she was a graduate of Augusta College and a former school teacher; and

Whereas, Mrs. Timmerman was the proud and devoted mother of Frank E. Timmerman, Jr., of Roswell, Georgia, and Helen Daeger of Blythewood; she was the dearly-loved grandmother of seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, Mrs. Timmerman was a well known and active member in the Edgefield community with many lifelong interests; and

Whereas, her patriotism and love of her country were proudly proclaimed through her membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution; and

Whereas, Mrs. Timmerman shared her love of gardening and music with her long-time friends and neighbors in the Edgefield Garden Club and in the Edgefield Music Club; and

Whereas, she was a devout and loyal member of Edgefield First Baptist Church; the strength of her beliefs and her devotion to living a Christian life were examples for all to follow; and

Whereas, Lucy Jane Scurry Timmerman was truly a lovely, genteel, southern lady who loved life and brought much joy and happiness to others, and she will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the South Carolina Senate, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon learning of the death of Mrs. Lucy Jane Scurry Timmerman of Edgefield and extend their deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Timmerman.
